Interest is Denounced in the Holy Qur’an
SamÄ says that he asked Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) as to why Allah (S.w.T.) has mentioned the illegality of usury at various places. Imam (a.s.) replied:
“So that people may not forgo acts of charity (like giving interest-free loans).”
(Wasa’il ul-Shia)
Imam Baqir (a.s.) said:
“The worst transaction is that which involves interest.”
(Wasa’il ul-Shia)
